Syllabus:

Learning experiences to meet aims, organising and structuring of learning experiences, media and strategies which might be used, evaluation of the effectiveness of the experiences. Each of these aspects are examined in relation to the needs of pupils with different abilities, backgrounds, interests and enthusiasms.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Demonstrated an understanding of the place of teaching and learning languages at the upper secondary schools level in the Australian context. Developed programmes or work or course outlines in the four macro-skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, based on appropriate content and subject matter from upper school syllabus. Displayed an awareness of the balance of the four macro-skills for the various levels of learners and developed appropriate programmes of work. Appraised existing resources, devised their own resources and adapted authentic and other materials to facilitate student learning. An understanding of the role of the Curriculum Council of Western Australia in Year 11 and 12 courses. Designed and implemented an assessment plan and developed assessment tasks to measure a variety of objectives. An awareness of language networks, support services and Curriculum Council guidelines for syllabus implementation and evaluation. Applied their knowledge to their specific LOTE to all the above areas.
