Syllabus:

Reviews key terms. Explores the interconnectedness between international policy influences and national policy priorities. Examines policy debate, stakeholders roles and the scope of frontline workers to influence policy debate. Explores policy discourses relevant to a particular social issue. Incorporates experiential learning focused on a specific topic.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Articulated the characteristics of contemporary social policy debates, particularly welfare reform agendas in Australia and overseas. Identified and discussed the role of stakeholders within the policy processes. Defined and effectively utilised key policy terms in policy discussions. Differentiated between and critically discussed different policy discourses.
