Syllabus:The computer as a tool, tutor and tutee. Introduces students to the operation of computers, operating systems, and the use of the computer as a tool through applications software the word processor, spreadsheet and database. Nature of computers as a tutor through software evaluation. Use of the computer as a tutee through LOGO programming.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Recognised and operated the basic components of a computer system. Competently used the standard application programmes word processor, spreedsheet, database and graphics packages. Competently used Microsoft Windows. Used a single application programme and an integrated package to accomplish a number of educational tasks. Evaluated courseware in your teaching area. Used electronic communications. Recognised and written a short programme using the Valiant Roamer and the Technology Process.
