Syllabus:Quantitative and qualitative modes of research and evaluation in the study of teaching. Models of the teaching process and designs for research on teaching. Current research into teacher and student interaction, teacher planning and cognitive processing. The theory and practice of selected strategies of teaching. Methods of curriculum and course evaluation. School improvement programs.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Considered and reviewed a range of research relating to teaching. Presented a well reasoned debate on a specific issue identified in your readings. Considered the importance of the stakeholders influence in determining an environment conductive to learning. Demonstrated skills of data collection and analysis appropriate to a classroom based study of teaching. Developed skills in analysing classroom trials of selected teaching strategies.
