Syllabus:An introduction to basic concepts such as performances and how the voice and body perform. Exploration of both narrative fiction and poetry, including character development, point of view, dialogue and simple structural devices. Offers Indigenous students culturally sensitive developmental modules in creative writing and performance.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - explored how words and actions relate to each other in making effective communication, explored how concepts of the body and space contribute to making a meaning in performance, developed skills in physicaland verbal communication which provide confidence in making presentations in public, explored some elements of narrative prose, poetry and "lifewriting", their various structural devices, particularly with reference to their impact on creative writing, make use of a range of readings to develop students reading and analytical skills to a level that enables informed creative text production, provide a forum and positive technical apparatus to facilitate the constructive criticism of creative work and the develop students confidence in presenting their ideas and work to such a forum.
