Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Distinguished and identified inclusion, integration and mainstreaming terminology and used it correctly in reference to the education of children with special needs. Identified, interpreted and analysed selected approaches to inclusion and integration with reference to student learning in individual teaching area (early childhood, primary and secondary). Recognised the characteristics of students with special needs, and related these in the elements of the educational process to individual teaching situation. Students identified and described a variety of teaching, learning and assessment procedures used in teaching children with special needs in regular classroom settings. Demonstrated effectiveadaptation of the curriculum to meet the leaning needs of all students in an inclusive classroom.
