Syllabus:Theories of consciousness-raising, dialogue and community education. Techniques which can be used in working with community groups. Using theatre, art, music, poetry, story-telling, etc. Freire and critical pedagogy. Boal and theatre of the oppressed.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion students will have a good foundation of - knowledge of theories of consciousness rasing- dialogue and community education - understand a number of theories and techniques of consciousness raising - some key examples of consciousness rasing internationally - be able to contextualize, critique and develop community education - consciousness raising exercises in a variety of international settings.
