Syllabus:History of drilling. Rigs and rig equipment, the rotary drilling process, drilling bits, the drill string, drilling fluids and casing design. Cementing equipment and operations. Basic control. Directional drilling.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - A basic understanding of oil and gas well drilling procedures, processes and equipment selection.
