Syllabus:	An introduction to the main statutes and legislation for local, regional and state planning in Western Australia and the main concurrent statutes and legislation affecting planning and administration in Western Australia. To develop a foundation of knowledge of planning statutes and legislation as a prerequisite for more detailed consideration in the Honours and Post Graduate programmes.
Unit Outcomes:	Upon completion of this unit students will have developed an understanding of the objectives and functions of the planning statutes, associated statutes and legislation for Western Australia, and the consequential interaction of the planning and associated statutes and legislation for heritage, environment and administration in Western Australia. Developed an understanding of the provisions of planning and associated legislation for planning, subdivision, development assessment, appeal and compensation in Western Australia. Gained understanding in recent planning related decisions of the Supreme Court and Town Planning Appeals Tribunal in Western Australia.
