| Syllabus: | Review of applied anatomy and current literature relating to anatomy of the vertebral column. Detailed consideration of the intervertebral and zygapophyseal joints, intrinsic muscles of the back, thoracolumbar fascia, age related changes, function and rehabilitation of the injured spine. A review of neuroanatomy focusing on the effect of damage on the motor control system and the consequent disruption in motor performance. |

| Unit Outcomes: | Upon completion of the unit students will have - Described at an advanced level the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system of the trunk and limbs and related the anatomy to age related and dysfunctional changes with reference to clinical presentations. Reviewed the anatomical literature related to a specific pathology, condition or structure and referred to research or information described in recent scientific articles as a source of justification for arguments presented in a clinical discussion of relevant anatomy. |
