Syllabus:Pathology, pathomechanics, epidemiology, aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of spinal, peripheral joints and conditions. Diagnostic tests. Issues associated with special sports groups and sports medicine.
 
Unit Outcomes: Upon completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated in greater depth the diagnosis radiographs for spinal joint pathologies and conditions and gained understanding of the pathology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis pathomechanics and aetiology including current surgical procedures for the spine. Developed an advanced level of theoretical and clinical specialised competency in pathology, pathomechanics, epidemiology, aetiology, symptomatology, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of spinal joints and conditions. Developed an appreciation of the psychological aspects related to an injured athlete and an understanding of the use and abuse of drugs in sport and its long term implication and effects on athletes. Developed an advanced level of theoretical and clinical specialised competency in the different issues and special groups related to sports and sports injuries and integrated an advanced level of theoretical and clinical reasoning skills with current research findings related to these pathological conditions in the injured athlete.
