Syllabus:	Issues in adult and aged psychosocial and mental health practice including: assessment, planning, interventions, evaluation, health promotion and other approaches. Theories and processes that facilitate change to enhance occupational function. Generic group work skills. Professional practice emphasising clinical reasoning, communication, assessment, planning and intervention.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit students will have - Applied theoretical principles and problem solving methods to occupational therapy practice with adults and aged in psychosocial and mental health services. Selected, administered and interpreted assessment results in relation to occupational roles and environments and applied appropriate interventions for adults and aged in mental health that reflect their task and role demands within their environments, cultural and value systems. Evaluated the quality and service outcomes of adult and aged in psychosocial and mental health occupational therapy programs. Demonstrated the ability to lead a therapeutic occupational group and analyse group dynamics and process. During professional practice demonstrated competency in professional behaviour, professional communication skills, assessment, planning, intervention, clinical reasoning and reflection.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:	Case history report 35%, Group facilitation 35%, Examination 30%, Fieldwork evaluation Pass/Fail. This is by grade/mark assessment. To successfully complete this unit students must pass the exam, the report/facilitation and pass professional practice.
