Syllabus: | Theories and practices related to adults with neurological impairment and their ability to engage in occupational roles by restoration or adaption to impairment, prevention of dysfunction and health promotion. Evaluation of rehabilitation, home and community-based practices for adults with acute, sensory-motor, perceptual-cognitive and related psycho-social impairments. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated the ability to apply knowledge of typical age-appropriate competencies to determine the extent of the neurological impairment in the adult. Applied the major theoretical approaches to occupational therapy practice for adults with neurological impairment. Selected, administered and interpreted assessments that are appropriate to the client's needs. Developed client-centred rehabilitation plans across the continuum of care that will enhance occupational roles. Designed and evaluated appropriate interventions for the adult with neurological impairment. |
