Syllabus: | Theory of plastination, including technical requirements for undertaking plastination and limitations of the technique. Preparation of specimens by prosection and processing of these specimens in these techniques to produce plastinated whole organ specimens. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Explained the methods used in whole organ plastination techniques. Identified the technical requirements for successful plastination using these techniques. Selected and prosected a suitable whole specimen preparation for whole organ plastination. Discussed issues related to the plastination of different types of whole specimens. Explored, discussed and solved problems which may occur during the plastination process. Described the anatomicaldetail of the finished specimen for catalogue data entry. Evaluated the use of plastinated specimens for teaching the detail shown in the plastinated specimen. Identifed safety management issues related to laboratory procedures during whole organ and region plastination. |
