Syllabus:Introduction to industry level requirement of skills and knowledge aspects as they relate to the practice of electrical product design. Tuition is studio orentated using project based design problems. Emphasis is placed on technical skill and use of technology.Tuition is studio orentated using project based design problems. Emphasis is placed on technical skill and use of technology. Provide an awareness of the following skills - an understanding of how people behave, interact or respond to various products. An understanding of materials available to design electronic and electrical products. An understanding of internal componentry and an understanding of electromagnetic shielding and other manufacturing issues.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit the students should have - Knowledge of the principles of design of electrical and electronic products. An understanding of ergonomic, economic, structural, material, and styling considerations when designing electrical and electronic products. Demonstrated further product design skills. Demonstrated further appropraite use of technology. Been introduced to the process of project development that is - research, analysis, ideation, design development, production, communication and evaluation as the underlying basis for the practice of design. Further understood the aesthetic and technical issues of design. Developed an open-minded and critical thinking approach to design ideation and development. Applied problem-solving skills to design. Fostered independent learning skills. Developed further skills to communicate design solutions through verbal, two and three-dimensional methods.
