Syllabus:An introduction to industry level skills and knowledge as they relate to the practice of animatronics design. Tuition is studio orientated using project based design problems. Emphasis is placed on technical skill and use of technology.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have - An introduction to principles of design of animatronics. An understanding of operational and film considerations when designing animatronics. Demonstrated further product design skills. Demonstrated further appropriate use of technology. Been introduced to the process of project development that is - research, analysis, ideation, design development, production, communication and evaluation as the underlying basis for the practice of design. Further understood the aesthetic and technical issues of design. Developed an open-minded and critical thinking approach to design ideation and development. Applied problem-solving skills to design. Had the opportunity to foster independent learning skills. Developed further skills to communicate design solutions through verbal, two and three-dimensional methods.
