Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Developed an understanding of the key aspects of language that underlie spelling development. Developed an insight into how the spelling system is organised. Developed an understanding of how most children learn to spell. Studied models of spelling development and the spelling process. Critically evaluated methods used to assess spelling accuracy. Developed a battery of assessment tools useful for the investigation of spelling ability. Criticallyevaluated methods used to resolve spelling disorders. Developed strong teaching strategies to apply to spelling instruction. Related the theoretical literature to professional and clinical practice. |
