Syllabus:	Health, growth and development of children. Safety, nutrition, family assessment, parenting, family dynamics. Screening and assessment of children, diagnosis of disease and deviation from normal health parameters, management, consultation, referral and evacuation. Diagnostic tests of children, routine pathology, interpretation of pathology results, pharmacology. Child abuse, neglect, ear health, audiometric screening. Acts and regulations.

Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit students will have - Competently conducted integrated health assessments on children. Screened, assessed and monitored the health, growth and development of children. Demonstrated competence in conducting diagnostic assessments of children and managed or referred clients. Identifed childhood illness and implemented first line management of clients, adhering to appropriate consultative, referral and evacuation processes. Applied advanced knowledge of child health andillness to client management, client education and health promotion.
