Syllabus:	Provides basic knowledge of computer programming using the object orientated programming language C++. Particularly relevant to the science and engineering field.
Unit Outcomes:	Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to - Know and understand structure and object oriented concepts. Design algorithms. Understand, analyse and formulate a solution to a given problem. Apply programming knowledge in science and engineering. Work cooperatively in groups.

Unit Texts:	No prescribed texts. Lecture notes are available in the Foundation Program Common Folder under the name IT064. It is the students responsibility to print out copies of the notes to bring to the lecture.
Unit Assessment Breakdown:	Final exam 50%. Lab report 20%. Test (1) 15%. Test (2) 15%. This is by grade/mark assessment. In order to pass this unit, students must participate in 90% of the lectures and laboratories. Score at least 40% in the final exam. Score at least 50% in total marks, and submit all laboratory reports.
