Syllabus:Covers the practical tools used for the development, evaluation and implementation of cleaner production and eco-efficiency opportunities in companies, with particular emphasis on cleaner production assessment methodology and its practical application indifferent industrial settings. Life cycle assessment methodology, data collection and interpretation. Environmental management systems. Integration of environmental management in quality, health and safety management systems. Students are to attend a 3 hour lecture once every three weeks.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Become familiar with the tools and techniques for evaluating and implementing Cleaner Productions and Eco- Efficiency opportunities and sustaining the benefits thereof. Had an introductory experience in the application of Cleaner Production tools in the context of individual production processes (through Cleaner Production Assessment), products (through Life Cycle Assessment), or companies (through Environmental Management Systems).
