Syllabus:An examination of the geographical and historical framework, subregions, interests and instruments of external powers involved in regional affairs and the evolution of regions as a strategic area. The interaction between external local states, relationswithin subregions, domestic and international sources of foreign policy for regional states such as Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Iran.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have gained a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of development in the given region. Have gained awareness about its growing strategic importance. Be familiar with major developments in the region, major powers and their relations. Understand the relationship between political and economic development in the region with world current trends.
