Syllabus:An examination of the European Union as a unique case of intensive regional integration. The changing place of European former greater powers in international politics. The transformation of US-EU relations since the end of the Cold War. The EU as economic superpower and emerging military power.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will - Be familiar with economic and political integration in the European Union. Have gained an awareness of the impact of the end of the Cold War. Be familiar with the post 1991 framework for European security. Be able to relate current European events to recent history.
