| Syllabus: | Overview of health economics. The value bases of health economics, health care and of Medicare. Exploration of health measurement, economic evaluation and priority setting, equity, remuneration systems, patient payments, financing systems, competition and insurance and moral hazard. |

| Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Defined the content and scope of health economics. Constructed arguments for why health care differs from other commodities. Critiqued market failure in health care. Defended health economics in the context of other health disciplines. |
