Syllabus:Futures - business futures and global business, social and political challenges to business, scenarios, innovation as strategic choice. Information, knowledge and knowledge management - sustainable development, managing in a complex world. Personal goalsetting and visioning. Part of an integrated Executive MBA program (including units 305914 and 305913) which together comprises of a variety of Lecture/Workshop sessions, and includes four one-week residential periods and seven three-day weekend study programs over a 15 month period.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - An explicit personal vision and set of personal goals for a defined time period. Demonstrated that they have contributed to organisational learning within their organisation. An ability to place personal goals within a team environment and produce strategies for dealing with competing goals or values. Knowledge of a base in the area of scenario planning and scenario thinking. Skills in environmental scanning and creative thinking as tools for analysing future strategic options. Utilised the Graduate School's hi-tech decision environment for multi-criteria decision making, resource allocation, management processes, strategic planning and complex problem solving. Appreciated the developing future of the information economy and the role of information in organisational development and change. Developed an outline for knowledge management within a workplace. Appreciatied the issues in sustainable development.

Unit Assessment Breakdown: Students will be assessed on a variety of submissions on readings, groupwork and participation. This is by grade/mark assessment.
