Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Outlined historical perspectives and myths about ageing. Conceptualised the underlying political and economic influences on ageing. Outlined social and cultural issues in ageing. Identified key health and welfare features of ageing, for example, responses in the fields of medicine, housing, architecture etc. Outlined the international, government and non-government responses to ageing. Described family and community responses to ageing. Outlined models of care and rehabilitation from an international perspective. Conceptualised future issues such as globalisation and ageing.
