Syllabus:Principles of mine management - organisational structures, corporate planning and budget development, leadership and control, total quality management, management information systems. Industrial relations. Major risk in mines and management of mine safety. Mine regulations in Western Australia and other States. Enforcement of the regulations and mines inspectorate. Mines rescue, theory and practice. Professional ethics.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit students will have - Gained an understanding of the historical and present day context and requirements for managing a mine in a safe, sustainable, productive and profitable manner.
