Syllabus: | The mineralogy of a number of ore deposit types will be reviewed with an emphasis on mineralogical aspects of mineral processing. Ore petrology of mineral deposits, techniques for mineral identification, techniques for measurement of trace and minor elements in ore minerals. Case studies in refractory gold ores, base metal ores, nickel sulphide and laterite ores. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have the ability to identify common ore minerals and understand their processing. A familiarity with methods of trace element analysis within ore minerals. |
