Syllabus: | Designed to advance students' communication skills from a personal, as well as an organisational, viewpoint. Since most of us are interested in, and concerned with communication on a daily basis we need to develop a strong understanding of how to improveout own communication skills in order to enhance the communication that occurs in the workplace. This unit is divided into five modules and these include functions and issues in communication, communication and perception, foundations of individual behaviour, interpersonal communication and communicating for change. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Identified the preliminaries to human communication including types and elements of various processes. Identified, interpreted and analysed selected models of human communication. Recognised, categorised and generalise the principles of human communication in the workplace including relationship dimensions and multi-purpose communication. Described and applied best practice in intercultural communication. Identified and described a variety of skills necessary for the management of interpersonal communication, interpersonal relationships, conflict and stress. Analysed the implications of communicating for change in the training environment. Demonstrated their assimilation of research on communication models and practices. |
