Syllabus: | Valuations of properties for statutory purposes or where the value is heavily influenced by the law. Rating valuations under the Valuation of Land Act and associated case law. The procedures and bases of compensation when land is taken compulsorily, for example under the Land Administration Act in Western Australia, and associated case law. Relevance of other statutes to valuations of properties affected by native title claims, heritage listing, contamination and similar. Introduction to rent reviews, GST & Native title. Prescribed standards and case law. |

Unit Outcomes: | Upon completion of this unit students will have gained knowledge of relevant legislation requiring valuation of property for rating or compensation purposes and the skills and knowledge required to carry out valuations according to the legislation. Gained familiarity with relevant case law relating to the valuation profession and other legislation which might impact on the value of some real property. Become Familiar with valuations methods that are heavily influenced by legal requirements. Knowledge of how issues involved in these legally defined valuations apply in all valuations. Have concepts of pricing models and value definitions as applied by VGO and in compulsory acquisitions. Gained Knowledge of quality control in valuations practices. |
