Syllabus:

The nature of communication and the role of culture and cross-cultural issues in regulating communication patterns and behaviour. Topics include - the principles of communication, communicative competence, impression formation and management, and miscommunication. An insight into the effect of inter- and intra-cultural issues on communication.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have an increased understanding of the communication process. An awareness of the role of culture in communication and its impact on inter-cultural communication.
