Syllabus:

An historical perspective of population movement, forced migration, health concerns in emergency situations, health care in the post emergency refugee camp, mental health of refugee and migrants, public health concerns in countries of resettlement, rebuilding communities after trauma and extreme stress, understanding secondary trauma - health and well being of workers, human rights and refugee health.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this Unit students will have- Critically examined the current state of refugee, migrants and displaced persons throughout the world. Compared and contrasted the health of migrants and refugees. Examined the complexity associated with the provision of aid to refugees. Conducted an advanced investigation into the health (including mental health) of migrants or refugees after arrival in a destination country. Critically appraised principles of service provision for migrants and refugees.
