Syllabus: | An aquaculture study tour visiting marine and inland aquaculture enterprises overseas. Students will inspect a range of facilities including marine hatcheries, integrated aquafarms, prawn farms, finfish and crustacean aquaculture systems. This unit incorporates an international trip of approximately 2-3 weeks duration. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have described the culture technologies of various aquatic species in China. Explained the environmental issues facing overseas aquaculture operations. Compared and contrasted overseas aquaculture with Western Australia. Developed team-work, communication and organisational skills in a different cultural environment. Evaluated research carried out in selected overseas Universities and Government Institutes. Performed a task involving demonstration of animal husbandry skills. Showed interest in receiving information on other cultures. Responded to people from a different culture asking questions to define similarities and differences. Participated with people from other cultures and recognised their contribution. |
