Syllabus:

Review of the components of Indigenous Community Management and Development (ICMD) or Indigenous Primary Health Care (IPHC) practice including aboriginal terms of reference, community development and community management or primary health care and their application to evaluation practice. Links between evaluation, community development and action research. Ethical evaluation practice. Participation of the critical reference group and other stakeholders in the evaluation project.

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of the unit, the student have - Explained the key concepts and purposes of program evaluation in relation to policy and program development. Explained the concept of "goodness of fit" in terms of the principles and practices of Aboriginal Terms of Reference, Community Development and Community Management or Primary Health Care in relation to program evaluation. Developed a management plan for own evaluation project. Negotiated an evaluation facilitator role with their employer and other stakeholders and identify relevant criteria re scope of own evaluation project.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:

Assignment (research methods 30%), Negotiation report presentation (30%), Skills test (40%). Students must obtain a 50% grade in each assessment unit to achieve a Pass grade. This is by Pass/Fail Assessment.
