Syllabus:Special community groups, the disabled, alcoholic, drug addicted, abused and the mentally ill. Clinical picture and health needs. Promotion of a healthy lifestyle - strategies to maintain health within the parameters of their condition. Care of special groups - strategies, clinical care skills, prevention and control, including screening.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have identified the health needs of special community groups. Promoted healthy lifestyles for special community groups. Cared and assisted special community groups with optimal living.

Unit Assessment Breakdown: Assignment (Health promotion - visual display (special community group)). Test (multiple choice objective type). Completion of Skills manual. Project (special learning community group), Journal writing. Students must obtain a 50% grade in each assessment unit to achieve a Pass grade. This is by pass/fail assessment.
