Syllabus:The management processes of planning, implementation and control. Analysis and implementation and monitoring of existing strategies and tactics for enterprises and activities on a horticulture or aquaculture firm. Selected topics include - whole businessanalysis, price-risk management, technical and economic management of production systems and machinery economics.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Demonstrated appropriate knowledge and understanding of the principles learnt in the subject on topics that include the role and functions of management. Factors in the analysis and planning of anagribusiness system. Benchmarking and analysis of horticulture or aquaculture enterprises. Analysis of the marketing strategies and tactics of the horticulture or aquaculture system with particular reference to price risk management. Machinery investment. Integrated technical, economic and marketing information to analyse problems and performance of horticulture or aquaculture enterprises and suggested appropriate solutions. Prepared reports that constructively and competently benchmark and analysed management of individual horticulture and aquaculture enterprises and the principal components of these system and made appropriate recommendations to improve the performance of the particular systems. Demonstrated the ability to develop and apply simple but effective Excel spreadsheets for the analyses and budgets required for the unit.
