Syllabus:Development of the foundation competencies in understanding human development, cardiopulmonary and exercise physiology. Selected topics on human development include physical, cognitive and social development in children, adolescence, adulthood, aging anddying. Selected topics in physiology include pathophysiology and clinical features of pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases, muscle strength and endurance measurement, exercise program development and evaluation.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Developed an understanding of human physical and psychosocial development across the lifespan and about the metabolic pathways and energy systems of the human body. Had an introduction to the physiology and neurophysiology of the muscular system including muscle performance and strength training. Had an introduction to the physiology of the cardiopulmonary system and the clinical manifestations of pulmonary and cardiac disease.
