Syllabus: | Mechanics of solids - Stress and Strain. Compatilbility of deformations. Principle of superposition. Stresses due to axial forces and thermal deformation. Bending stresses in beams and simple composite beams. Deflections of beams by double integration and moment area methods. Deflections of structures using strain energy. Impact effects on structures. Influence line for statically determinate beams and frames. |
