| Syllabus: | Feedforward and ratio control, cascade control, over-ride control, selective control. Advanced control techniques - deadtime compensation, inferential control, adaptive control. Multi-input and output systems - process and control loop interactions, control loop pairings, decoupling control systems, multivariable control techniques. Digital control systems - Z transforms, discrete time models, closed loop analysis, digital control system implementation. |

| Unit Outcomes: | Introduce students to advanced chemical process control concepts, including feedforward, cascade, ratio, inferential control. Introduction to multi-loop control design including pairing and decoupling for chemical process systems. Introduction to the design and implementation of digital control techniques for selected chemical engineering systems. |
