| Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Knowledge of competing welfare discourses and how these have shaped the Australian welfare state. Knowledge of the ways Australia's colonial roots and federation have influenced the shaping of social policy, including health and income maintenance. The ability to identify how contemporary social trends influence Australian social policy. Developed a critical awareness of the ways in which dominant political and economic discourses impact on contemporary social policy. |
