Syllabus: | Beliefs and principles which underpin the Mathematics Learning Area. Children's construction of mathematics. Properties of the number system. Measurement and the metric system. Problem-solving and using technology in teaching mathematics. Developmental approaches to learning mathematics. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Demonstrated an understanding of modern, effective, teaching principles for mathematics learning. Demonstrated an understanding of how to analyse critically a variety of materials and activities that promote mathematics learning. Demonstrated an ability to plan a sequence of lessons in mathematics. Revised and consolidated aspects of their mathematics content knowledge. Begun to incorporate the Working Mathematically Strand into the plans for mathematics teaching and learning. |
