Syllabus:Principles of learning and instruction. Behavioural, social, cognitive and humanistic theories of learning and their educational applications. Motivation and management in the classroom. Learning outcomes, assessment and evaluation in the Australian education context.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Identified and explained key terms, theories and concepts in the areas of teaching, learning and assessment. An understanding of cognitive, social, behavioural and humanistic approaches to learning. Related the theories of teaching/learning to the realities of classrooms. Integrated learning theories so as to develop principles for structuring positive learning environments. Analysed and critiqued current literature on a variety of topics relatedto teaching and learning. Constructed own learning through a collaborative group contract-based approach. Successfully integrated technology with learning. Developed and applied assessment strategies. Identified the needs of exceptional students and selected or adapted strategies to enhance learning inclusive setting. Identified inhibitors to learning and nominate strategies which will promote learning.
