Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Critically examine ethical theories and the AAOT code of ethics to determine their value in guiding occupational therapy practice. Systematically analyse situations and issues encountered in professional practice where there are complex or conflicting needs and identify workable solutions that are ethical and legal. Evaluate the purpose and effectiveness of professional associations and regulatory bodies in maintaining high standards of professional practice and protecting the rights of consumers. Evaluate of the processes involved in continuing professional development and career planning throughout an occupational therapist's career. Identify and critically analyse medico-legal issues as they apply to occupational therapy practice. |
