Syllabus:	Antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum nursing care. Neonatal care. Infant feeding. Nutrition for children. Fluid management. Central lines, parenteral nutrition. Documentation and communication of care. Medication administration. Observations. Identification of abnormal symptomatology in children. Care of the child and family in hospital. Paediatric assessment. Nursing care for infants and children. Safety and harm reduction in children. Role parameters for nurse in maternal, paediatric and child healthnursing. Parenting skills. Clients at risk.
Unit Outcomes:	On completion of this unit students will have- Demonstrated achievement of competencies in maternal, child health and paediatric clinical settings. Document a family assessment in the child health setting. Recognised the difference between functional anddysfunctional family units. Accurately reflected the nursing care of clients through documentation. Provide care that reflects the concept of family centred practice.
