Syllabus:Learning to learn skills. Essay writing and planning - a concise thesis statement, basic components of an academic essay (introduction, body and conclusion), using cohesive devices within and between paragraphs, peer conferencing and writing in specified genres.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Developed time management and study skills. Developed individual writing skills as fully as possible and built self-confidence in own writing ability. Developed an academic writing style. Developed an understanding of the importance of organising ideas prior to writing and developed essay planning skills. Developed the facility to write academic essays. Proof read and edited their own work.
