Syllabus: | The design and analysis of experiments. Themes include the elimination of systematic bias and reduction of error variance in experimental designs, statistical significance testing, practical significance and statistical power. Selected analyses include -one-way, two-way and multi-way ANOVA for designs with between-subjects and within-subjects factors, ANCOVA and multivariate ANOVA. |
  |
Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of the unit the student will be able to - Critically evaluate the design and analysis of experiments involving one or more independent variables. Use SPSS General Linear Model for the analysis of a range of the one-way, two-way and multi-way designs. Test and correct for violations of the assumptions underlying a range of designs involving both independent groups as well as repeated measures factors. Have experience with the written and verbal presentation of experimental research. Critically evaluate both the statistical and practical significance of experimental research. |
