Syllabus:For students from non-English speaking backgrounds whose proficiency in English language might place them at a disadvantage in Australian undergraduate courses. Practise in speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a tertiary setting. Academicwriting in the form of reports with some exposure to essays. Study, library/www research and oral communication skills. Vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Areas of study, cross-cultural and current issues.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Compete with English - speaking background students in the tertiary sector. Effectively communicate in Australian society by having the ability to select appropriate communication and interpersonal skills. Understand current issues that effect Australia and the surrounding region.
