Syllabus:	Natural hazards. Climatic hazards. Geologic and geomorphic hazards. Increased risks through urbanisation and poor management of agricultural and pastoral land. Hazard prediction and perception.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of Geography 111 students will have will have - an appreciation of the geographic significance of natural hazards and a general understanding of the physical characteristics and economic and social implications of natural hazards. Beginning skills in reading topographic maps and/or aerial photographs, and in observing and recording in the field. Had the opportunity to improve their skills in note taking and reading through the preparation of weekly summaries, oral presentations and class discussion, report writing through the preparation of a field report incorporating both primary and secondary information sources.
