Syllabus: | Use of assessment skills with individuals, groups, organisations and community systems. An understanding of the role and function of specific methodologies and assessment tools and the uses and limitations of assessment in the counselling setting. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Conduct behavioural observations. Integrate assessment information in order to articulate working hypotheses that guide client interventions. Recognise formal and informal assessment methods. Use a number of assessment tools. Recognise the limitations of some assessment instruments and procedures. Demonstrate an understanding of the limits of use of some assessment tools by counsellors. Select appropriate assessment approaches. Recognise counsellor contributions and bias in the assessment process. |
