Syllabus: | Futures research and its multidisciplinary applications are examined. The complementary roles of quantitative and qualitative research approaches as well as locating and understanding, interpreting and critiquing databases, previous research and related sources of information are outlined. Ways of planning a futures project; identifying contexts and frameworks and choosing data, tools and methods are discussed. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Understood the essential skills for dealing with conceptual issues in futures research. Develop an appropriate futures research design. Understood the concepts of qualitative methodology includingaction research, ethnography and grounded theory. Employed data collection strategies and interview techniques using ethical principles. Developed an appropriate futures research design. |
