Syllabus:Supervised investigation of a problem in the information technology field or in the application of information processing. Development and implementation of a solution and presentation of a written report. The principles of project management applied to the conduct of the project with attention to time management and documentation.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will gain competence and understanding in the processes involved in conducting a research, development or design project within the broad area of computing. Students will be able to demonstrate the capability to work independently, organise their time appropriately, and generate a suitable report on the process.

Unit Assessment Breakdown: The project report will be examined by the Supervisor and one other member of the Academic Staff and moderated by a panel of Academic Staff. The examiners may require an interview with the student to clear up any issues with the project report. To pass the unit the student must have an officially allocated supervisor prior to the start of the semester and must satisfy attendance meeting requirements as agreed with the Supervisor. A Project Report must be submitted by the Friday of the Study Week and anydemonstration, seminar, testing session, etc. must be assessed as agreed with the Supervisor, and The overall assessment must be at least 50%.
